Each school district in Michigan is governed by a board of education. Under state law, school board members are state officers who carry out the state’s educational obligations at the local level. Every school board member must take an oath of office promising to uphold all laws.

The Lawton Community Schools' Board of Education holds regular session meetings once a month. The meeting schedule for each school year is set in July. Once the regular meeting schedule for the school year has been set it will be provided at this link. Special meetings are sometimes added, or changes may be made to the regular calendar. Changes to the meeting schedule are posted at the Administration Building (Central Office).
