Welcome to Lawton High School! We are located at the end of Second St. approximately 1 mile east of downtown Lawton. Lawton High School was built in 1972 as Michigan's first open-space high school. In January 2006 the high school completed a $13 million renovation and additions of 35,000 sq. ft.

Lawton High School operates on a trimester schedule which means students take five classes each day for 66 minutes for 12 weeks. Core classes take place over two trimesters and elective classes are one trimester each. Students also have a 30 minute achievement period every day during which they are given time to work on assignments, receive tutorial help, or conduct meetings.

In addition to the academic core of classes, students at Lawton High School select a variety of courses as outlined in the curriculum guide. Students also are afforded opportunities during their junior and/or senior years to attend the Van Buren Technical Center in Lawrence for more specialized and technical training. Students who meet qualifying scores on the PSAT / PLAN or ACT Tests also are afforded opportunities to take college classes at nearby post secondary institutions.
